One of the last pieces of untouched nature in Slovakia is situated in Veľká Fatra mountain range. It is sometimes called “jungle”, namely because of hardly accessible terrain of coniferous forests.

SALAŠE AND THE TRADITIONAL PRODUCTS

Great Fatra hides a lot of traditional chalets with large herds of sheep. You can taste there typical Slovak specialties such as cheese dumplings, oštiepok, korbáčiky and other traditional products.

Thanks to its large area, the Great Fatra offers a large amount of multi-day tours, during which you can sleep at the mountain huts and in the cozy hotels.

To Krížna

FROM PO ZELENEJ TO KRÍŽNA

Krížna is the third highest peak of the Great Fatra. You can reach its summit from Liptovské Revúce via the green trail. Krížna is unique as it is where three different colored hiking trails intersect. Not only will you enjoy a pleasant hike, but you will also meet people who share your passion for the mountains.

To Ploská

FROM PO ŽLTEJ TO PLOSKÁ

KEY INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRAIL:

This grassy hill offers beautiful views over the surroundings from each side. The road to Ploská is not difficult, it lasts no more than two and half hours.

To Borišov

FROM ČERVENÁ AND ZELENÁ TO BORIŠOV

KEY INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRAIL:
Chalet under Borišov is one of the most beautiful and well-known chalets in Veľká Fatra. Live music is often played; while savoury delicacies are being prepared. Over the chalet rises a dominant Borišov hill. A decent climb up a steep hill will reward you with beautiful views.
